Current Instructors

Patricia Blok – 5th Dan, Yoshinkai Aikido, and 5th Dan World Kobudo Federation

Patricia Blok Renshi received her 5th degree black belt from Terada Kiyoyuki Hanshi (Hombu Dojo) in June 2003 and a 5th degree black belt from the World Kobudo Federation in November, 2002.  Patricia Blok Renshi (senior instructor) began Aikido in 1981.  She graduated from 20-month instructor programs under both Takashi Kushida Sensei and Blok Shihan and holds an international teaching license from Japan.  Blok Renshi teaches basic adult classes, and children's and pee-wee classes at the Chudokan.

 

 

Gary Gascoigne - 4th Dan

Gary Gascoigne Renshi began Aikido in 1983. He graduated from a 30 month instructor's program under Blok Shihan. He was promoted to 4th degree black belt in October 2000 and holds a 2nd degree black belt in Karate. Gascoigne Renshi also has a bachelor of science degree in physics, was a Captain in the Royal Canadian Air Force and currently owns 2 businesses in the Windsor area.

  

Stan Mauro - 4th Dan

Stan Mauro Renshi began Aikido in 1990 and has graduated from a 44 month instructor's program under Blok Shihan. He was promoted to 4th degree black belt in October 2002 and teaches adult intermediate and children's classes at the Chudokan. He is also an Instructor Trainer in On Guard (Police-style Defense and Control Tactics). Mauro Renshi currently runs a full-time personal protection business. (www.aiki.ca - stan@aiki.ca)

  

Julius Rosenstein - 3rd Dan

Julius Rosenstein Sensei began Aikido in 1975. He graduated from 20-month instructor programs under Takashi Kushida Sensei and Blok Shihan. He was promoted to 3rd degree black belt in November 1991 and holds an international teaching license from Japan. Rosenstein Sensei was an instructor at the Wayne State Aikido Dojo in Detroit MI and now assists at the Chudokan. He is employed as a production supervisor and has a college degree in business administration.

 

Karlo Mauro – 3rd Dan

Mauro Sensei began Aikido in 1992 and has graduated from a 20 month instructor's course under Blok Shihan. He was promoted to 3RD degree black belt in February 2003 by Blok Shihan and holds a Basic Instrucstor ranking in On Guard (police style defense and control tactics). Mauro Sensei graduated in September 2000 as a Doctor in Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.). In addition, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Master of Science and Education degree. Mauro Sensei has also taught Defense and Control Tactics programs for Casino Niagara Security and teaches basic classes at the Chudokan dojo. http://www.thenaturopath.ca

 

Art Williams -2nd Dan

Art Williams Sensei began Aikido in 1981.  He graduated from a 20 month instructor's program under Blok Shihan.  He was promoted to 2nd degree black belt in June 1989 and was awarded an international teaching license by Gozo Shioda.  Williams Sensei teaches adult basic classes (Relaxed Aikido) at the Chudokan.  Williams Sensei holds a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Organizational Management.  He works as a Human Resources Advocate and as a Certified Mediator specializing in cross-cultural and labour conflict resolution.

 

 Gale Brydon - 2nd Dan

Gale Brydon Sensei began Aikido in 1994 and has graduated from a 10 month instructor's program under Blok Shihan. She was promoted to 2nd degree black belt in October 2001. She currently teaches adult basic classes at the Chudokan dojo. Brydon Sensei is employed as a medical lab technologist.

Anthony Van Lamoen - 1st Dan

Anthony Van Lamoen Sensei began Aikido in London, Ontario in 1997 and has graduated from a 24 month instructor's program under Blok Shihan. He was promoted to 1st degree black belt in June 2001 and was an Uchideshi (live-in student) at the Chudokan dojo for 18 months. He holds a Basic Instructor ranking in On Guard (police style defense and control tactics) and has a professional certificate in Conflict Mediation/Dispute Resolution. Van Lamoen Sensei teaches introductory and children's classes at the Chudokan dojo.

Lorraine Murphy-1st Dan

Lorraine Murphy Sensei began Aikido in January 1995 and has graduated from a 10 month instructor program under Blok Shihan.  Murphy Sensei has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Sociology and a Master of Social Work degree as well.  She now has a private  practice.  She was promoted to 1st degree black belt in June 2001 and currently teaches Relaxed Aikido at the Chudokan.
